Important Information for BRU Technology Users on Mac OS X 10.4.9 and 10.4.10

Since the release of Mac OS X 10.4.9 and 10.4.10 - both client and server - there are a number of issues that have surfaced when writing to tape devices on Mac systems.  The issues range from devices hanging, dropping off the bus, or refusing to respond to commands issued by the controlling software.  For this reason, we are listing OS X 10.4.9 and 10.4.10 as not compatible with tape devices connected to Macintosh systems via SCSI, FireWire, USB, SAS, or Fibre-Channel.

Apple has released OS X 10.4.11 (TOLIS Announcement).  This update fixes all of the currently outstanding tape device I/O issues.  This is listed in the release notes as a fix for "SAM Block Devices".  Users of OS X 10.4.9 and 10.4.10 must update to 10.4.11 as soon as possible to ensure proper tape I/O operation.

As a result of these and many other problems with 10.4.9 and 10.4.10, they are no longer supported operating systems with any version of the BRU technology on Mac OS X.
