Unsupported OS Message from bruCLONE After Booting From Clone Drive

We have witnessed a few occurrences where bruCLONE will report that it's not supported on Mac OS X version 10.3.9 and prior when users have booted from the bruCLONE volume they have just made.  This causes bruCLONE to quit, thereby making it impossible to perform a "reverse clone" operation to restore your hard drive contents.

The cause of this problem is actually a warning message being reported by "dyld".  To see this warning message, open up the Terminal .app application inside of the "Utilities" folder and you'll see messages such as:

dyld: shared cached file was build against a different libSystem.dylib, ignoring cache

At the start of bruCLONE, the first thing the application does to make sure that it's running on a system that has Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later installed.  Instead of getting the immediate response to this request, the above line is returned and therefore causes bruCLONE to think it is not running on a 10.3.9 or later system.

The resolution to this error is actually quite easy.  Just update the dyld shared cache.  How do you do this?  In the Terminal.app window that you've opened, run the following command:

sudo update_dyld_shared_cache -force

That will force an update of the dyld shared cache and allow bruCLONE to launch so that you may perform your reverse clone, as well as further clone operations.
